Infant child care in Apollo Beach: Massage is good for brain, heart and liver function

Posted on 06-20-2014 | Carrie Elwell

We know that massage is a wonderful and healing practice for adults, but did you know that massage also has many benefits for young child, including infants? For example, massaging an infant during the the day or just before bedtime may help improve brain, heart and liver function. In addition, it can help produce a feel good chemical, which reduces stress and allows the baby to fully relax. Massage can lead to improved sleep as well.

At Kids 'R' Kids Learning Academy of Southshore, we have vast experience with infants and young children, and we take pride in providing excellent child care services in Apollo Beach, Florida.

To Massage an infant just before bedtime you will need the following items:

  • Baby Oil
  • Warm Towel
  • Baby Wipes
  • Clean Clothes

Follow this procedure gently:

Give the child a warm bath then place him in a warm, but not hot, towel. Be sure the room itself is warm and not drafty. Ensuring that your hands are warm, apply some oil and rub it on the baby's body, concentrating on the following areas:

  • Tummy
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Head and Face

Make gentle but firm circular motions on all these areas. You can gently wipe off the excess oil using the baby wipes and then put your infant into warm, clean sleeping clothes.

Do this once every other day to help improve brain, heart and liver functions and to help your infant relax for better sleep. After a few sessions you should see a difference in your infant's readiness for sleep. You can make this part of the bedtime routine.
